12-year-old Fitchburg, Massachusetts, lady who died was in DCF custody on the time

A 12-year-old girl is dead, and 5 Investigates reports that she was in DCF custody when she died. The mother of Syeisha Nicholas said she’s still waiting for details about what happened. Nicholas’ mother shared photos of her daughter, who says she has been in DCF custody since last November. She tells 5 Investigates she was told about Nicholas’ death, but still has many questions. The girl was living at the Bridge Home in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where she died on Saturday. Both Fitchburg police and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office are investigating, and are calling this an “unattended death.” DCF also confirmed they are part of the investigation. Luk, Incorporated, which operates the home, released a statement reading in part: “The entire LUK organization is devastated by the recent passing of a beautiful child at one of our programs. Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies are with the child’s family. LUK has been working closely with authorities and has been providing support to the employees who cared for this child.”
