2 individuals taken into custody after little one dies in Independence capturing

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Two adults were arrested Sunday after a two-year-old child was shot dead in an Independence apartment.

Independence police at 219 East Walnut Street responded to reports of a shooting, according to a court document.

When they arrived, the officers saw a woman carrying a bleeding child. They later observed a gunshot wound near the back of the child’s head.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital, where it later died.

After searching the home, officers found a gun and marijuana in the home.

It is not clear whether the two adults will be charged in connection with the child’s death.
