2-month-old boy dies whereas within the custody of DCYF – Fall River Reporter
A 2 month old boy tragically died on Sunday.
According to Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey, the incident was reported to the police by forensic medicine at 1:50 p.m. Police found that the child was taken to the hospital by the parents shortly after 11:00 a.m. and pronounced dead at 12:23 p.m. after resuscitation failed.
Lacey said an autopsy was performed and the results are yet to be confirmed.
Both parents live in Westerly.
The father was arrested on a pending arrest warrant and non-contact violation, with the mother being the protected party.
The boy was in DCYF provisional custody at the time of his death.
The investigation continues.
