24-year-old Eau Claire man taken into custody after little one pornography investigation

EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WEAU) – A 24-year-old man is detained Monday after suspicion of child pornography.

Brent Nicolet was detained by Eau Claire on a recommended charge of possession of child pornography and referred to the Eau Claire County District Attorney, according to a release from the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office.

A first court hearing is scheduled for August 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

Nicolet was working at the Metropolis Resort at the time of arrest.

The general manager of Metropolis Resort made a statement on behalf of the resort.

“Brent Nicolet no longer works at the Metropolis Resort. Eau Claire police have informed us that he has been arrested for viewing and possessing child pornography. The resort was not aware of this situation until we were informed by the police. It appears that his actions took place outside of our website. We are working closely with the Eau Claire Police Department, ”said Sara Abbott, Resort General Manager Metropolis Resort.

The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s detectives are pursuing this case. Since the victim is a child, no further information will be released. The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office has no information that there were other victims.
