Morgan Co. deputies take man into custody after allegedly kidnapping a 16-year-old

After a five-hour search, 36-year-old Adam Dexter Wilson is charged with kidnapping and impaired custody.

This came after Wilson came to a residence in Lacey’s Spring with a gun and hauled a 16-year-old out of her home.

Wilson is in Morgan County Jail on Wednesday with a $ 2,500 bond. The Morgan County sheriff’s office said he may have other charges.

WAAY-31 spoke to a woman who knows the 16-year-old and said the whole situation was just shocking to hear.

“It got my heart racing because this isn’t happening, it isn’t happening at all,” said Jocasta Walker.

Jocasta Walker lives near Prince Circle and said the kidnapping nearby was something out of the ordinary for that area.

The search took five hours before authorities found the two people.

Initially the call came as kidnapping and kidnapping in the area and at one point an amber alarm went off.

The authorities used helicopters, drones and even search beagles for hours.

The dogs finally found them in a wooded area behind the Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church.

“They were able to move them right into the perimeter we had. So it was a successful operation and luckily the 16-year-old kid is out of danger,” said Mike Swafford of the sheriff’s office.

Swafford said at the time of the crime Wilson had a gun pointed at him but they couldn’t find one at the time of his arrest.

“It could be anywhere out there. There is more to be done, but the biggest thing is that the 16-year-old, the teenage woman, is no longer at risk with this incident, and we are grateful for that,” said Swafford.

Swafford said Wilson was known to the family but did not specify to what extent.

“It’s not normal. We are used to taking care of each other. We are not used to someone coming out of here and one of our children being taken … Just talking about it hurts like I want to cry right now”, said Walker.

The 16-year-old is reunited with her family. However, investigators will question her to learn more about what led to this incident.

The Morgan County Sheriffs, Huntsville Police, Alabama Law Enforcement, and Limestone County Correctional Facility helped arrest Wilson.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.
