The Kansas Bureau Investigation, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Prairie Village Police canceled the Amber Alert issued late Friday night after their mother’s 2-year-old Sammantha Hicks and 1-year-old Sherman Hicks III were forcibly taken. They were found safe in Independence, MO, according to a tweet from MSHP. Officers say the unprisoned father, Sherman Derrell Hicks, 20, is now in custody. The original warning stated that the suspect had left Franklin Park at 8700 Roe Ave. in Prairie Village with the kids, driving a dark blue 2015 Honda CRV with Kansas license plate C603549. According to a tweet from MSHP, the suspect was involved in a domestic disorder with the mother and threatened to kill the children before leaving. The Amber Alert went off on both sides of the state border before 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
