Baby killed in capturing close to Polaris; suspect in custody
COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A child aged 1 to 2 is dead while his mother is in stable condition after a shooting near Polaris Tuesday night.
The shooting in the Lazelle Road and Worthington Galena Road area was reported at around 9:26 pm, according to Columbus Police
Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant said it was a domestic violence situation.

The child was taken to St. Ann’s Hospital while the mother was taken to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
Bryant said the shooting occurred in a house, prompting the suspect to put the mother and child in a car. The car then crashed, as a result of which the suspect allegedly stole another couple’s vehicle and eventually crashed that car.
The suspect was arrested a short time later.
Bryant did not want to reveal the relationship between the suspect and the victims.
