Battle breaks out over youngster custody at memorial service

Two groups were involved in dispute at Ravine Water Park, police say

– Today at approximately 3 pm, Paso Robles Police Department dispatch received a call of a fight involving dozens of people at a memorial service being held at The Ravine Waterpark. Two groups were in a verbal dispute that centered on a child custody issue, according to Paso Robles Police Commander Tod Rehner.

When officers arrived, there were no parties involved who were physically fighting. One person involved did complain of having their arm closed in a gate, causing injury, police say. All involved were offered medical attention as a precaution.

Shortly after responding to the water park, police headed to a home on Appaloosa Drive, where the child was reportedly taken following the event.

There have been no arrests, and none are anticipated at this time, according to police. The child custody issue has been referred to San Luis Obispo County Child Protective Services.

The memorial service was being held for Delaney Faith Dolly Trujillo, a Paso Robles woman who passed away on March 8.
