Britney Spears Children 2021: Custody, Sean Preston, Jayden James Federline

She may be the Princess of Pop, but to Britney Spears’ children, she is only known as the mother. Britney shares two sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline: Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Britney and K-Fed were married from 2004 to 2007. They got engaged in July 2004 after three months of dating. In November 2006, Britney filed for divorce from Federline, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking physical and legal custody of her two sons with visiting rights for Federline. Their divorce was finalized in July 2007. In October 2007, however, a court ruled that Federline had sole custody of Jayden James and Sean Preston because Britney had “habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol” at the time to the judge.

The drama continued in January 2008 when police were called to Britney’s home after she reportedly refused to give Federline custody of her children and locked herself in a room with Jayden. She was then hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Federline was given “sole custody and custody” of her children, while Britney would be given visiting rights.

It was around this time that Britney was also placed under a conservatory run by her father, Jamie Spears and her lawyer, Andrew Wallet. As curators of Britney’s person and estate, Jamie and Wallet have had access to her doctors and medical records, limit who visits her, and control the financial decisions she makes. Wallet has since removed Britney’s curator, while Jamie is no longer a curator of her person but remains one of her estate. In 2020, Jamie appointed Britney’s younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, as the trustee of her estate, which means she will receive her fortune when Britney dies. The decision sparked a backlash from fans who believed Britney’s sons should be their trustees.

After their conservatory was established, Britney and Federline were again 50/50 in custody of their children. However, their agreement changed again in September 2019 when the K-Fed received 70 percent custody, while Britney received 30 percent unattended custody, according to Us Weekly. That change was confirmed to Us Weekly in March 2021 after a source told the magazine that Britney sees her sons “less” after Federline changed her custody agreement.

“She used to have more time with them until Kevin changed her custody agreement after the incident with Jamie. Since then, the boys’ visits have been less frequent, “the source said. “They spend most of their time at their father’s house and have very few visits with their mother, especially when they stay overnight. They are teenagers now and want to be with their friends, not their parents. It’s nothing against Britney; They love and adore her, and Kevin trusts her. It’s just that they’re getting older. So when they’re not in their main house with Kevin, they usually do things with friends. “

The insider further noted that Britney sees her sons “regularly” and that they do not have a “set schedule”. Even so, the Source Weekly told us that Sean Preston and Jayden are “normal boys” who “just want to see their mother happy”.

Interest in Britney’s custody agreement was sparked in February 2021 when Hulu released its documentary, Framing Britney Spears, which documented the history of Britney’s Conservatory and her legal battle with her father. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the time, Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said that his client doesn’t know how well his sons know Britney’s Conservatory and whether they’ve seen Hulu’s documentary about their mother. “Kevin wants to stay away from any internal excitement that might arise between Jamie and anyone on this side of the case,” said Kaplan. “I don’t think Kevin would want to subordinate or be involved in any way unless it minds that this is a decent custody home.”

While Federline doesn’t know how well his children know Britney’s Conservatory, Kaplan noted that Sean Preston and Jayden James have more control over who to spend more time with as they get older.

“As the boys get older, there is a little more emphasis on how they feel, where they want to be, and when they want to be there,” Kaplan said. “Obviously they can’t make that decision,” he adds. “Both Britney and Kevin share a common goal of making sure that both custody homes are as safe, structured and orderly as possible so that the children feel safe, stimulated and protected, regardless of what custody the parents are in. A good parallel Goal that needs to be kept and as long as it is kept no one has to worry about having to change this. “

Framing Britney Spears can be streamed on Hulu. Here’s how to watch it for free.
