Jacksonville attorney and Zisser Family Law senior counsel Carolyn Zisser is being recognized by The Florida Bar on the 50th anniversary of her membership in the state organization.
“While the practice of law has undergone many changes over her professional career, Carolyn has remained committed to the high ideals of service to Floridians and the protection of their rights,” said Florida Bar President Michael G. Tanner.
Zisser will be among attorneys honored for their years of service at The Florida Bar’s Senior Lawyers Committee Luncheon that takes place at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek & Waldorf Astoria on June 24, which coincides with the organization’s annual convention.
“Being part of The Florida Bar has been an important part of my life and being a member certainly helped me in my professional career and in solidifying our firm’s legal strength in Northeast Florida.” Zisser said. “Even after all these years in the law profession, it’s always an honor and privilege to be recognized by your peers.”
In 1975, Zisser established the first woman-owned family law practice in Jacksonville, Carolyn S. Zisser, PA /Zisser Family Law, in Neptune Beach. In January 2020, she merged her firm with Zisser Law, founded in downtown Jacksonville in 1971 by her husband Elliot and his brother Barry Zisser. It now operates under the name Zisser Family Law with offices downtown and at the beaches.
“While forming and managing a successful family law practice over the past four decades, I’m especially proud that my husband of 50 years, Elliot, and I raised two happy and successful children along the way … and over the last eight years we’ ve enjoyed and nurtured three grandchildren,” she said.
Their son Jonathan Zisser is now Zisser Family Law’s managing director and their daughter Dr. Alison Zisser Nathenson is a clinical child psychologist.
Zisser Family Law handles marital and family matters including cases involving divorce, alimony and child support, time-sharing, valuation and distribution of assets and complex valuations of businesses. With managing attorney Jonathan Zisser, it also takes on criminal issues that arise in the context of family litigation, such as domestic violence and domestic battery, DUI offenses, child abuse and other cases.
