Cheyenne Police verify suspect in custody in connection to demise of 2-year-old

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Cheyenne Police Department today confirmed in a press release that they had arrested a man for no-show and parole offense related to the death of 2-year-old Athian Rivera. whose body was found in a nearby dumpster.

They identified the suspect as Wyatt Lamb.

On February 19, authorities went on social media asking the public for help finding Rivera, who was reported missing around noon on the 500 block of Desmet Drive.

The social media post was later updated to announce that Athian had passed away.

The full CPD statement regarding Lamb’s arrest reads as follows:

At around 1:00 p.m. on February 19, 2021, Cheyenne police responded to a report of a missing 2-year-old child around the 500 block on Desmet Drive.

Cheyenne police officers conducted an extensive search of the area and found the missing child dead in a nearby dumpster.

Wyatt Lamb, 27, of Cheyenne, was contacted at the residence and taken into police custody around 6:15 p.m. for an unrelated no-show arrest warrant and a parole violation arrest warrant.

Cheyenne police officers have now passed an affidavit of the probable cause to Laramie District Attorney supporting additional charges of aggravated child molestation and murder.

This case is still under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
