August is Child Support Awareness Month, and the Child Support Division of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services is celebrating the occasion by partnering with local United Way organizations for a fundraiser to support their critical efforts in the communities, whom they serve and receive the news about free offers for custodial parents and children in families where they do not live with their parents. HFS has regional childcare offices in Aurora, Champaign, Chicago, Collinsville, Joliet, Marion, Peoria, and Rockford, and both partner with a local United Way office that provides career- and community-based family education services. Donors will be asked for their zip code, which will direct the funds they donate to a local United Way branch. The donation website will be online until September 10th. United Way was selected this year for its continued efforts to provide services that meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable members of their community while promoting philanthropy and volunteering to empower the communities they serve.
