Clermont man taken into custody after toddler suffers trauma

A man from Monroe Township faces charges after a two-year-old girl is seriously injured. According to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, the Clermont County jury filed charges against James Tackett Jr. on charges of aggravated assault and child endangerment charges on Tuesday. MPs said the investigation came from an emergency call on June 19 from a two-year-old who was not breathing in a house on block 2100 on State Route 125. Tackett initially told authorities that he was around the 2-year-old daughter at work and the child slipped and fell while walking across the kitchen floor after getting out of the bathtub. Tackett said the child was not responsive when he found her. He then called the mother and asked her to return home from work because of the child’s condition. According to the sheriff’s office, the 2-year-old’s mother called 911 upon her return home. The MPs reacted to the scene and interviewed those involved. At the time, Tackett denied injuring the child. Then a two-month investigation took place. Doctors at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital found the infant’s injuries were consistent with “major trauma incompatible with a household injury.” Clermont County MPs took Tackett into custody Tuesday. He is currently being detained in the Clermont County Jail without bonds. Tackett is due to be charged on Wednesday.
