SEARCY – A couple were arrested when a 10-year-old girl died in November, authorities said Monday.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, MPs from the White County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 2500 block of Arkansas 16 on Nov. 25 in response to a report from an unresponsive child. The child was later pronounced dead, according to the release.
Authorities said that after a cause of death was confirmed at the doctor’s office, an investigation was opened.
Detectives, along with members of the Arkansas State Police’s Child Crimes Division, were called in to investigate suspected deaths.
Authorities arrested Malissa Kay Feavel, 36, and Christopher Lee Feavel, 40, on Friday.
According to authorities, Malissa Feavel is charged with manslaughter and Christopher Feavel is charged with an accomplice in manslaughter.
Both are being held in White County Jail in lieu of a $ 400,000 bond. According to an online inmate list, they are due to appear in court on May 4th.
The investigation is still ongoing, the authorities said.
