Douglass ECLC Accepting Functions For Head Begin And Pre-Kindergarten Packages

The Douglass Early Childhood Learning Center is now accepting applications for Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten programs for the 2021-2022 school year for children ages 3 and 4 on September 1, 2021. Registration does not guarantee the child a place in the program; It is used to determine if the child qualifies for the program. Due to COVID-19, registration is virtual, only with email appointments.

In order to be considered for the “Head Start” and “Pre-Kindergarten” programs, the child’s parents or legal guardians must submit all required documents to Rita V. Taylor, ERSEA specialist [email protected], along with a contact number and email address.

The required documents include the birth certificate of the civil servant of the child. Social security card; current vaccination protocol; and current Medicaid, private insurance or CHIP card. All must provide a copy of the parent or legal guardian’s photo ID, 12 months proof of household income in the form of a 2020 tax return and a W-2 form for 2020, or, in the absence of these documents, a notarized letter from an employer, including annual salary , on official business letterhead; and proof of residence, e.g. B. a current electricity bill, a rental agreement or a mortgage statement with the family name.

If applicable, the following documentation is also required. TANF, SSI, SSA, child support, alimony, military documents (LES / FSSA); Food stamp card; WIC card; Foster Care 2085 form; IEP – Individualized Education Plan; medical advice on allergies or health needs of the child; and custody documents or court orders.

The submitting parent / legal guardian then receives an email from SSISD to arrange a telephone interview. After the interview process, applications will either be sent to the parent / guardian or collected from Douglass ECLC, 600 Calvert St. After all documents have been received and reviewed, a letter will be sent to the parent / guardian notifying them if their child has been accepted or placed on a waiting list for one of the programs based on set criteria. If accepted, the parent / legal guardian must complete the district’s online Skyward application

Those who do not have access to a scanner to upload the required documents can scan documents with a smart device. Not sure how to scan to a smart device? Taylor provided the following tips to aid in this process:
