Dungannon youngster loss of life: Man and girl remanded in custody over loss of life of Ali Jayden Doyle

A 32-year-old man was remanded in custody for the murder of a two-year-old girl in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

Ali Jayden Doyle died in hospital after an ambulance was called to a house on Park Avenue in Dungannon on Friday afternoon.

Darren Armstrong, 32, of Ashbeg Grove, Dungannon, has been charged with murder and perversion of the judiciary.

Jade Dempsey, 24, of Sycamore Drive in Dungannon, was charged with causing or permitting the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.

Both appeared by video link in Omagh Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

They confirmed that they understood the allegations made against them.

A PSNI detective sergeant linked the charges to the defendant.

Armstrong was arrested hours after the boy was taken from his Park Avenue house to the hospital Friday night, and on Sunday police also arrested Dempsey in connection with the death.

Judge Bernie Kelly declined bail and they were both remanded to appear in Dungannon District Court on September 1.
