A 21-year-old third-year engineering student was detained by the Pimpri-Chinchwad police on Wednesday for six days by a local court for allegedly sexually abusing his younger sister in Pimpri-Chinchwad two months ago.
The attack came to light after doctors found the girl was eight weeks pregnant, according to the complaint.
“He’s the girl’s older brother and they live in the same house. The family found out about this when the pregnancy became known. She went to YCM after she had a stomach ache and doctors found out she was pregnant. Then the hospital informed the parents and filed a medico-legal case which was sent to us. In the meantime, the parents started asking questions of the girl and then they both revealed what had happened and we have now arrested him, ”said Assistant Police Inspector (API) Neeta Ubale, who is investigating the case.
The complaining girl is 17 years and 5 months old and a 12th grade student and, according to the police, lives in the same house as the arrested man with her parents.
“He lives in a student residence in Mumbai, where he is studying. Her parents own a small kiosk in front of their house and pay for their three children’s education. The middle child is also in college and living in the college hostel, ”API Ubale said.
According to her complaint, the abuse began on the night of April 15 in the living room of her home, where they were both sleeping, and lasted until May.
A case on the matter has been registered under Sections 376, 506 of the Indian Criminal Code along with Sections 4, 5 (j) (2), 5 (l), 8 and 12 of the Child Protection Against Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) at registered with the Chinchwad police station.
