Father shot to demise following custody go to in Cherokee County, man arrested | Information

CHEROKEE County, Georgia (CBS46) – A child custody visit deteriorated following a shooting in Cherokee County.

Around noon on Saturday, August 7th, MPs answered a call on the Mohawk Trail in Acworth that shot a person dead. When they got to the scene, the officers found Eduardo Figueroa, 31, from Acworth, dead right in front of the house.

During the investigation, 32-year-old Nicholas Mimms from Powder Springs, who is in a relationship with the mother of Figueroa’s child, told MPs that he allegedly shot Figueroa.

Officials say neither Mimms nor Figueroa lived in the house; the apartment belonged to Mimms’ parents.

Fortunately, at the time of the shooting, neither the mother nor the child were at home, MPs reported.

Police arrested Mimms Saturday, blaming him with Felony Murder, Agravated Assault and Agravated Battery. Mimms was reported to be there when the MPs arrived. He is currently detained at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without any ties.
