Former basketball coach again in custody after Sevier County authorities file felony cost of Tried Web Stalking of a Youngster | Native Information

For the third time, a former high school basketball coach was arrested on allegations resulting from a Conway Police Department investigation launched in May into the findings of inappropriate pictures and videos of underage women and inappropriate text messages. The investigation began after a picture of a naked underage woman was discovered on his phone while it was being repaired in a Conway store.

Ryan Smith, 32 of Conway, former Danville and Horatio basketball coach, is back on custody after a third warrant was issued against him on Friday, June 11, 2021.

Smith was on remand after being arrested by the Conway Police Department on May 27, 2021, on 35 counts of computer child pornography and additional charges of computer child pornography and video voyeurism filed in the Yell County Circuit Court.

Following a Faulkner District hearing, Smith was released from the Faulkner District Detention Center after finding a likely reason for his being held on the crime charge, and the charges were established. The Faulkner County judge set Smith’s bond at $ 250,000 during the bond hearing, and after posting the bond he ordered, Smith was released from prison but taken to the Yell County Detention Center in Danville, where he was Yell County arrest warrant has been served. Smith was then charged with computer child pornography and video voyeurism.

On Thursday, June 3, 2021, Smith appeared on video in a crime hearing in Yell County District Court. During the hearing, a testimony was offered by a Conway Police Department detective and Judge Jerry Don Ramey was investigating the likely reason Smith was being held on the charges. Judge Ramey ordered Smith’s $ 500,000 loan.

On the afternoon of June 3, Smith left bail and was released from Yell County Detention Center pending his next trial, an indictment scheduled for August.

On Friday, June 11, 2021, Sevier County officials filed documents with the Sevier County District Court and a warrant was issued against Smith on charges of attempted internet stalking of a child.

The Sevier County investigation began after Conway police discovered explicit conversations between Smith and another adult woman who spoke of a “fantasy” of Smith.

In the lyrics, Smith constantly talks to the woman who is the mother of a 15-year-old and asks her to have sex with her 15-year-old daughter at the same time.

On the text messages, Smith explained his fantasy and the mother reportedly agreed to allow this sexual encounter.

Then, while the text messages continue, the mother elaborates on what Smith should do with both her and her daughter and how it should be done. Although it is unknown whether the encounter occurred, Conway Police released the information and evidence to Sevier County authorities upon discovery of the correspondence and it was investigated.

On Thursday, July 10th, the mother, who had agreed to the arrangement with her daughter through the text messages, identified as Lori Marshall, 40, who is also a first grade teacher at Horatio Elementary, was charged tried internet stalking from a child. One day after Marshall’s arrest and eight days in detention, Smith was also arrested and faces the same charge.

Smith was booked into the Sevier County Detention Center just before 8 p.m. on Friday, June 11.

He is currently being held pending a trial on the felony charge.

According to the authorities, the investigation is currently ongoing.
