The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of a man in League City Police custody early Saturday.

At 7:11 a.m., officers found Corey Paul Denton Davis, 36, in League City Jail to be unresponsive, according to the department. Rescue workers tried to provide assistance, but Davis was pronounced dead at 8:06 a.m., police said.

Davis, who lived in Galveston, turned himself in to police on Tuesday for a traffic order.

League City Police supported the Texas Rangers’ death investigation, the ministry said.
