Guelph police say a man convicted of child sex crimes was arrested again on new complaints dating back 20 years.
They also warn the community that under certain conditions he has been released from custody and will have a court date in May.
Police said earlier this month an investigation began into alleged sexual assault between 2001 and 2003 involving a female victim who was between 11 and 13 years old at the time.

Keith Smith was arrested this week and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and criminal harassment.
Smith has already been convicted of four sexual disorders.

He also faces several similar charges by the OPP that are currently making their way through the judicial process following alleged assaults in 2009 and 2016.
In the investigation, Smith is charged with three cases of sexual assault and three cases of sexual dysfunction.
It is unclear why he was released from Guelph police custody, but the service said he would like the public to be informed of Smith’s presence in the community.

Based on Smith’s previous beliefs, he is already subject to a number of conditions, such as bans on public parks and swimming areas, daycare centers, or school grounds.

Neither can he get a job or volunteer when it comes to holding a position of trust or authority over someone under the age of 16.

Smith cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 16 without supervision.
Guelph police say Smith is required to keep the same terms.
The police also ask anyone with information about their 2001-2003 investigation or any other incident involving Smith to contact him.
