Martindale-Hubbell® Client Review Ratings ™ displays ratings submitted by individuals who have either employed or consulted attorneys or law firms.

The evaluation of the customer review is determined by the aggregation of validated responses. Individuals who submit reviews are either individuals who have consulted the attorney / law firm or who hired the attorney / law firm and wish to share their experience with that attorney or law firm with other potential clients. Valuers can be anyone who consults or employs an attorney, including internal legal counsel, corporate executives, small business owners, and individuals.

Martindale-Hubbell confirms that a reviewer is a person with a valid email address. As part of the assessment process, the respondent must assure that he had an initial consultation, currently the client or client of the identified lawyer or secretly. The content of the answers comes exclusively from reviewers.

Previous results do not guarantee a similar result and Martindale-Hubbell assumes no responsibility for the content or accuracy of ratings. For more information on Martindale Hubbell customer ratings, please visit our customer reviews page

Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings ™ are the gold standard in attorney reviews and have been for more than a century. These ratings indicate attorneys who are widely respected by their peers for their ethical standards and legal expertise in a particular area of practice.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard because of its objectivity and completeness. Lawyers asked for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney under review and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys who have practiced for at least three years and who have received a sufficient number of reviews from unaffiliated attorneys can receive a review.

What are the Different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV-Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating means that a large number of the lawyer’s colleagues rate him or her at the highest level of professional excellence based on their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.

• Excellent: An excellent rating for an experienced lawyer. This rating indicates that the lawyer is widely respected by his peers for his high professional performance and ethical standards.

• Remarkable: This rating indicates that the lawyer has been recognized by many of his colleagues for high ethical standards.

Lawyers who received peer reviews after 2009 display more detailed information, including practice areas, summary ratings, detailed numeric ratings, and written feedback (where available). Details of individual evaluations received before 2009 are not displayed.

Lawyers who receive reviews from their peers, but not enough to compile a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating, will post those reviews on our websites.
