Household overwhelmed by help after little one almost dies and hearth forces them from dwelling

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO. – Paytons friends say the St. Louis County family has always been about giving more than receiving. This is one of the reasons Antonio Payton resisted the idea of reaching out to GoFundMe for help even though his family is in the midst of two challenges.

Her premature baby, Preston, who was almost three months old, turned blue one day. A multitude of medical problems added up to more than he could handle. He stopped breathing. Antonio Payton said the doctors told him the problems had added up to more than Preston’s body could handle.

“As a father it is devastating to hear,” said Antonio.

Preston stays in the hospital but is now breathing alone. A few days after this fear, a fire forced the family of 9 out of their home. Preston has a twin sister and 5 other siblings. Payton said family members stayed with friends and groups who texted each other for support.

“We have no choice but to go through this and conquer,” said Antonio.

Payton and his wife Precious were blown away when they saw the GoFundMe mushroom. Thousands of dollars came from friends, co-workers, and strangers. You have been humble about the number of people who care and want them all to know how much your help is appreciated.

“We just want to say thank you because it means so much to us,” said Precious Payton.

Her husband said: “We would like to thank everyone who has donated, whether it is just a part or something or whatever. We definitely thank them for that. “
