Jeff Lewis seems to be getting along well with his new parenthood after a protracted custody battle.
On Thursday, Lewis, 51, shared a photo on Instagram with his daughter Monroe Christine and ex-partner Gage Edward, with whom he shares custody of the four-year-old.
Thanks to their recent custody agreement, the former couple who split in February 2019 got together this week to celebrate their daughter’s graduation from preschool.
“Congratulations to the graduate. The toughest years are behind you,” Lewis captioned the photo as her young daughter held up her diploma.
37-year-old Edward also shared a photo on his social media account with a separate picture of himself and Monroe.

Last month, Lewis announced on his SiriusXM radio show, Jeff Lewis Live, that after more than two years of fighting over custody of Monroe, the two flipping out alums agreed to split custody and drop their lawsuits against each other.
“I have wonderful news,” Lewis told his co-hosts. “After 26 months [of negotiations] with Gage Edward Fredenburg – most of it was controversial, I would say – we signed our custody agreement. “
Lewis said both he and Edward dropped their lawsuits against each other, “and we have agreed on custody.”
Edward didn’t respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment at the time, but a source close to the star said he was very pleased with the solution.
“That’s a huge relief,” the source told PEOPLE. “He and Jeff are very good together and Gage is looking forward to putting this conflict behind him.”
Lewis, who will soon be returning to TV with a new reality series on IMDb TV, also announced that he and Edward have agreed to an even separation of physical and legal custody in addition to a new visiting schedule that began this month.
The story goes on
“I’m happy with the schedule. Well I agree with the schedule, I think it will be good for her,” said Lewis. “Well, it’s going to change because we did it every other day, and now it’s going to be two days over there, two days at my house. And then to get the 50/50 we had to do this like this every second Friday.”

In February, Edward spoke exclusively to PEOPLE for the first time about the state of his and Lewis’ relationship after the couple went out for dinner.
“I think Jeff and I have started recovering from what happened in our past,” he said at the time. “Our primary goal is to raise our daughter in a loving environment, and we are learning how to raise the two of us together as effectively as possible for her sake.”
The exes get together to focus on the best interests of Monroe, who, according to Lewis, has struggled to adjust to their breakup.
In October, Lewis revealed on his show that Monroe misbehaved at school, which he believed was a direct result of their ongoing custody battles.
“The two administrators come out [without] Monroe and I say, ‘What the hell?’ And they say, ‘Can we have a word with you? … We are very concerned about Monroe. We’re worried about her behavior, “Lewis recalled.” She cried, she’s confused, she doesn’t know who is going to pick her up … there was a little step backwards. ‘”
“I’m like, ‘Oh my god’. And then it’s just in my face – I worry, I worry,” the father of one child continued.
But now, with the custody battle behind the family, daughter Monroe smiled after graduating with her parents this week.
