Kan. toddler stays in protecting custody after discovered strolling alone

SHAWNEE COUNTY – Law enforcement officers are investigating parents following a report from a child walking alone in Topeka on Saturday.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to the Likins Foster neighborhood after a young child was found alone, according to Topeka police spokeswoman Gretchen Spiker.

In the late afternoon, the police found the parents. According to Spiker, the child is still in police custody. The police did not provide any additional details.
