Kelly Clarkson has won custody of their children with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

According to court documents US received TODAY, Clarkson and Blackstock will share joint physical and legal custody of their children – daughter River, 6, and son Remington, 4 – with Clarkson holding primary custody of them in Los Angeles.

“The Court notes that, in the circumstances of this case, the interest in stability and continuity for minor children is weighted in favor of the petitioner’s primary custody,” the ruling on Clarkson said.

The document also states that “the level of conflict between parents has increased” and that “the parties have difficulty becoming parents together because of problems of trust between them”.

Although Clarkson will have custody, Blackstock will have FaceTime with the kids every day. The document also includes details of weekends, bank holidays and school vacations.

The document also states that neither parent is allowed to speak “derogatory” to the children about the other parent and that both are listed as emergency contacts for the children at all school types.

USA TODAY reached out to both Clarkson and Blackstock representatives for comment.

On June 4, Clarkson filed court records in Los Angeles to end her marriage to Blackstock under her married name, Kelly Blackstock, according to the Associated Press. They married in 2013. Blackstock also has two children from a previous marriage.

During the season two premiere of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in September, the singer took some time to briefly discuss her divorce, suggesting the split came as a surprise.

“2020 has changed my personal life a lot too,” said Clarkson. “I definitely didn’t see anything coming.”

Clarkson added that their divorce has been difficult because it also affects their children.

“What I have to do is difficult because it affects more than my heart,” she said. “It’s about lots of little hearts. We have four children and divorce is never easy. We both come from divorced families, so we know it’s best to protect our children and their little hearts.”
