Lady falls out of constructing in DC; suspect in custody

A woman is in the hospital after falling out the eighth floor of a building in Northwest DC, and a child related to the victim and a suspect have been located, police said.

A woman is in the hospital after falling out the eighth floor of a building in Northwest DC, and a child related to the victim and a suspect have been located, police said.

It happened Thursday on the 4500 block of Connecticut Avenue just after 7 pm

The woman fell from an apartment building, Cmdr. Duncan Bedlion said during a news briefing.

Preliminarily, she was found with some type of rope or item tied around part of her body near her legs, Bedlion said. She is in stable but critical condition with serious injuries.

The 1 1/2-year-old child was found safe with a family member in DC

Bedlion said that while police was investigating, a person arrived on the scene.

“He was disturbed. He provided some information that led us to believe that he was a suspect in this case,” Bedlion said. The person has been arrested.

Police also said that a firearm was recovered in the building. Animal control was also present, and Bedlion said there were “some type of reptile” found that were being turned over to animal control.

The incident is being investigated as a domestic assault.
