A man and five children are dead after an early morning shooting in Muskogee, police said.
Police said reports came in of a shooting near Augusta Avenue and Indiana Street at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to the police, the officers found a man and four children dead in the house upon arrival. A fifth child was rushed to a Tulsa hospital in a helicopter, but police say the child also died. Officers said there was also a woman with life-threatening injuries who was rushed to a Tulsa hospital. Police say the victims appear to be related.
Police say when they arrived they found a suspect with a gun and an officer fired a round in which the suspect was missing. After a brief foot chase, the suspect was taken into custody, officials said. Officials have not yet released details of the suspect’s identity or relationship with the victims.
