The man accused of shooting a six-year-old in the arm is back behind bars. After the outcry from the Ypsilanti, Michigan community; Ryan Le-Nguyen’s bond was increased to $ 100,000 and he was taken back into custody on Thursday June 10th.
“The accused is no longer free and is already back in custody,” said the public prosecutor on Facebook.
Le-Nguyen returned to prison without incident, according to Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit.
“We’re glad the defendant is back in custody to keep the community safe,” Savit told USA Today.
Savit added that 6-year-old Coby “was shot in the arm, but a few inches further and he would be dead”.
As REVOLT reports, Coby sustained a gunshot wound to the arm after retrieving his bike from the front yard of Le-Nguyen. The ring doorbell camera in a neighboring house recorded the shocking incident.
The kid told Fox 2 Detroit that Le-Nguyen first tried to hit him with a sledgehammer, but he escaped. Police say the man then fired a gun through his window and the bullet went through Coby’s arm.
“I’m really mad,” the boy’s father, Arnold Daniel, told the point of sale. “I can’t function and I don’t know what to do… I’m scared for my family. I’m afraid for her because I don’t know what he’s capable of. “
Le-Nguyen was arrested and charged with intentional assault, assault and two gun possession charges, but was released from prison on Tuesday, June 8, after bailing him for $ 10,000. The amount of the loan and the release of Le-Nguyen further anger local residents.
“We share the church’s pain and anger because a child was shot. And we know that for many, the pain and anger are exacerbated by the fact that the defendant was able to fulfill his bailout provided by the court, ”wrote Savit on Wednesday (June 9) in a Facebook post.
After the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office filed an urgency motion to cancel Le-Nguyen’s loan, it was increased to $ 100,000. A likely cause conference for the case is scheduled for July 22nd.
