Man in custody for allegedly stealing Jeep with 2-year-old little one inside close to DIA | Colorado Springs Information

A man is in custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle carrying a two-year-old child, police said.

Police announced that a black jeep with Texas license plates was stolen at around 1:55 p.m. near East 51st Avenue and Chambers Road

Within an hour, officers located the stolen jeep on East 40th Avenue and Airport Way in the Gateway neighborhood. The child appeared to be unharmed, but should be assessed as a precaution, the police said in a statement.

No arrests were made initially, but officers located the suspect in the 32nd Avenue and Chambers area later Thursday.

Information regarding the suspect is unknown.
