Man in custody for digital solicitation of minor

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A Topeka man is taken into custody for sexually advertising a child.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office says a 50-year-old man is in custody and is being charged multiple times after an investigation into electronic advertising for a child.

On March 15, the Sheriff’s Office announced it had received information about a child’s online advertising by an adult male. Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday, Criminal Investigation detectives arrested a man who tried to force a person he believed was a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual acts.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, William L. Brown III, 50, from Topeka arrived at an unknown location and was taken into custody. Brown was reportedly admitted to the Shawnee Co. corrections department and charged with electronic advertising and child sexual exploitation.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation was still ongoing.
