MAN SHOT OUTSIDE OF COURT, RIGHT BEFORE CHILD CUSTODY HEARING

Custody cases can get very delicate. On July 12, 2021, shortly before a controversial custody case, a man was shot dead in Caldwell County Court in Lenoir, NC. Chad Emke, 48, was charged with shooting Travis Webb, 35.

Chad had a scheduled trial Monday in Caldwell County Court on a custody case. Chad was in a vehicle outside the courthouse with a 10-year-old boy. Travis and Chad eventually started arguing.

As the altercation escalated, Chad drew a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and shot Travis twice in the upper body, officials say. Paramedics came and began providing life-saving aid to Travis.

Travis was transferred to several hospitals and was seriously injured. Chad was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a lethal weapon with intent to cause serious injury and endanger children.

Chad’s bond issue was set at $ 500,000. The child was not physically injured during the bullet fight.
