Man shot whereas dropping off little one in Need space, NOPD says; 1 in custody | Crime/Police

A 21-year-old man was shot dead overnight in the Desire area of ​​New Orleans while delivering a child, police said Tuesday. Another man is in custody and is charged with shooting.

According to preliminary information from the New Orleans police, the crime took place shortly after midnight on the 3200 block on Ursula Spencer Way (map).

The 21-year-old man and his girlfriend brought a child to the area when police said Donald Brooks, 26, came up to them from behind and shot the man in the shoulder.

The injured man drove to a hospital in a private vehicle and his condition was not immediately available.

Brooks was arrested Tuesday and admitted to the Orleans Parish Justice Center. According to online prison records, he is facing a heavy battery charge.
