A man was taken into custody after a woman was found dead in a hotel room Sunday morning, Wisconsin Dells police reported.

Lt. Perry Mayer said in a report that Wisconsin Dells officials were dispatched at 11:37 a.m. Sunday to look for two people living in a room on 1015 River Road, the address of the VUE boutique hotel.

When they arrived the officers were met by a man in the room who said he was okay, but when they asked about the woman they were told she was dead, Mayer said.

The man has been taken into custody and an investigation into the death is ongoing, Mayer said, adding that police believe it was an “isolated incident and posed no threat to the public.”

No names or further details were released.

The Wisconsin Dells Police Department said they work with the Lake Delton Police Department, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab and the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Department of Justice of Wisconsin.
