METHUEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man convicted on sexual assault charges escaped police custody while on trial at Middlesex Superior Court in April.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Bedford Chief of Police Kenneth Fong, and Lexington Chief of Police Michael McLean are asking for the public’s help in finding 38-year-old Stephen Corbin, Jr., of Methuen.

On April 14, officials say Corbin was convicted on eight counts of aggravated rape of a child, following which he fled the courthouse. Investigators say they have not been able to locate Corbin and bring him back to court for sentencing.

Officials say Corbin has blonde hair and blue eyes, is five feet and eleven inches tall, and weighs around 160 pounds. Corbin’s location, before he cut off his GPS ankle bracelet, was in the area of North Street in Andover. The DA’s office says Corbin has ties to Methuen, Lawrence, Haverhill and Hudson, New Hampshire.

Anyone with information regarding Corbin’s whereabouts, police said, should not approach and instead call the Massachusetts State Police.
