The Orissa Supreme Court has allowed a father to take custody of his 15-month-old son, finding that continued custody of the child with the mother, who is now separated, will improve the child’s mental and physical development would affect. The court’s order came from a video in which the mother repeatedly tortured and beat the child.
A bank division of Judges SK Mishra and Savitri Ratho on Friday allowed a habeas corpus submitted by a Chakradhar nayak from Puri County and ordered Chakradhar’s wife Rosalin to deliver the child to his father within seven days. “If they don’t, the police will take appropriate action,” the High Court said.
