Mom with out custody faces expenses after taking 2-year-old

WILTON MANORS, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale police responded less than 12 hours after issuing a statewide Amber Alert to a missing 2-year-old on an apartment complex.

Police at Wilton Manors were looking for Stella Victoria Turley, who was last seen on Sunday between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. in an apartment building on the 2300 block on Northwest 9th Avenue. There, police said, she was taken away by her mother, Christine Ammon, 29, also from Wilton Manors.

According to authorities, Ammon has no custody of the child.

The toddler was found with his mother at around 1:40 p.m. in apartments on the 1000 block of Northeast 17th Way in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

Police said Ammon was charged with child neglect, impairment of custody and violation of a court order.

According to the police, the child has since been reunited with his father.
