Mother and father of sufferer comply with take physique’s custody, carry out funeral peacefully

The Class 12 girl student who was studying at a private school, ended her life after being ‘tortured’ by two teachers, who have been named in her suicide note.

Chennai: The parents of Kallakurichi girl, who allegedly committed suicide after harassment by teachers, have agreed to take the custody of the body of their daughter and perform a funeral in Tamil Nadu.

The family of the deceased girl reached Kallakurichi hospital to receive the body on Saturday.

The Class 12 girl student who was studying at a private school, ended her life after being ‘tortured’ by two teachers, who have been named in her suicide note.

Previously, the girl had talked about alleged harassment she was experiencing from teachers. However, no action was taken by the administration.

An advocate representing the girl’s family said they will receive the body on July 23 in the morning and conduct the funeral peacefully the same day.

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to entertain the plea of ​​victim’s father seeking a repeat postmortem by including one forensic expert of their choice. Earlier, the Madras High Court has denied the plea.

Justice N Sathish Kumar of Madras High Court formed a panel of forensic experts from Puducherry (JIPMER) Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, to examine the post-mortem report and videos and give a final opinion on the matter.

On Monday, several private school organizations in Tamil Nadu declared a holiday. The Tamil Nadu Private Schools Association extended condolences to the student’s family. There was also a demonstration against the alleged negligence in the case.

Earlier in an exclusive interview with Times Network, mother of the deceased girl student said that ‘no other child should go through this’. According to the girl’s mother, the school administration initially notified her that her daughter was hurt but then informed her that she had died.
