Mother and father With Baby Custody Points are Buzzing About Federal Legalization of Marijuana

It used to be that if you were a Texan parent with custody issues, marijuana use could be a big problem for you. But as more states legalized cannabis, even the relatively conservative Texas legislature has made it difficult for the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to remove a child if one parent tests positive.

At the national level, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released a draft federal law to legalize marijuana earlier this month that could bring even more dramatic changes to the legal landscape of Texas family courts.
