Ocala man arrested after cyberstalking, threatening to jeopardize lady’s custody over little one

An Ocala man faces cyberstalking charges after a victim alleged he cut his wrist in front of her and threatened to reveal to her ex-husband that he was a sexual predator so that she would lose custody of her child.

On July 7, a Marion County sheriff’s assistant responded to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Village in Ft. McCoy regarding a victim who was afraid to go home for fear that 36-year-old Ricky Spradling might be there.

The victim said she issued a preliminary protection order against Spradling on July 6 after he came to her home and cut his wrists open in front of her. According to the sheriff’s report, Spradling was placed under a baker’s act after the incident.

While at SMA Health, Spradling called the victim three times and the victim claimed he said, “If I get out of here, you’ll be done,” the report said.

The victim claims Spradling followed her online and said she is now afraid for her life, the report said.

The victim showed a screenshot from June 29, in which Spradling commented on a Facebook post from the victim’s children, “Too bad that you will lose one,” and referred to their children, the report said.

A screenshot revealed Spradling said, “So why not take away the only thing you want … so you can feel how I feel right now … is that what you really want?”

Another screenshot revealed, “You want me to hate you so that you will pass me by? Do you want me to do it? “

The victim claims Spradling was referring to telling her ex-husband that Spradling was a registered sex offender so that she would lose custody of her child, according to the report.

Spradling was arrested and taken to Marion County Jail on $ 5,000 bail. He was charged with cyberstalking with an arrest warrant. A court hearing is scheduled for August 24th at 9:00 am, according to the prison records.
