PIL in Delhi HC seeks course to offer interim custody of kids orphaned because of Covid-19

New Delhi [India]May 8 (ANI): A public interest lawsuit was brought before the Delhi Supreme Court against the Union of India, the NCT Delhi government, the Delhi police and other government agencies to seek custody of those orphaned by Covid Ensure children -19 to their immediate relative or childcare home under their supervision and protect the identity of such children so that they are not at risk.
The petitioner Jitender Gupta, a practicing lawyer from Delhi, is asking respondents for instructions to safeguard the interest of the children who have lost their parents to Covid-19 and who have no one to look after them and who are at risk of human trafficking .

The petition also asks that family members of citizens who lost their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic be given adequate financial compensation after they have had access to adequate healthcare infrastructure / facilities related to hospitalization Refused oxygen bottles and injections, medication, etc.
The plea in law alleges that the healthcare infrastructure in the National Capital Territory of Delhi completely collapsed during the second wave of Covid-19 in India, particularly from April 2021, due to gross negligence and failure of the respondents, i.e. the Union of India as well as the National Capital Territory Government of Delhi (GNCTD) have resulted in the untimely deaths of hundreds / thousands of citizens.
Various benches in the Delhi Supreme Court are currently examining the numerous petitions related to Covid.
Justice DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh’s bench is due to hear the matter on May 10th. (ANI)
