Police Say Man is Custody After Utilizing Little one as Human Protect Throughout Arrest

>> (Des Moines, Iowa) – A man is in custody after Des Moines police alleged he was using a child as a human shield when officers tried to arrest him.

Police say they were looking for Lewis Butts for pending arrest warrants. The officers were tipped via Butts’ location, but somehow Butts noticed the tip and called a fake tip himself.

When officers confirmed Butts’s location, police said he barricaded the door and held an 11-year-old child in front of him when officers tried to arrest him. The officers said they convinced Butts to lay the child down and then took him into custody.

Butts is charged several times.
