Police search data on car that struck 3-year-old youngster in Riverside

Southampton Town Police are seeking information on a young child who was hit by a vehicle on Old Quogue Road in Riverside last night.

The police said that a good Samaritan had found an injured 3-year-old child on the road around 6:40 p.m. yesterday. The “injuries to the child corresponded to a vehicle impact,” said the police.

The child was under the supervision of his grandmother in an apartment building on Old Quogue Road when they migrated, police said.

A witness told police they saw a black limousine leaving the area where the child was found, according to a police press release. It is not known whether the driver knew he hit the child, police said.

The child was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police Aviation with minor, non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Southampton Town detectives will ask anyone with possible information about the accident or the vehicle involved to call 631-702-2230.
