There is now a reward for the Emporia woman for accepting informed consent earlier this year on a custody case with a reported missing child.

Lyon County Crime Stoppers has a reward of up to $ 1,000 in the case of Jessica Suzanne Downs, who was due to be convicted on Wednesday but failed to appear. A bench warrant is also in effect.

In late April, Downs filed a so-called Alford plea that did not challenge the violation of parental custody and was subsequently found guilty. An Alford plea means that the defendant says he or she is innocent but admits that there is enough evidence to find the defendant unequivocally guilty.

In January, Downs allegedly kept a two-year-old boy two days longer than the visiting arrangement, according to court records made available to KVOE News. The child was reported missing, sparking an intensive search by law enforcement agencies before the boy was brought to safety.
