KUALA LUMPUR: The founder of the Rumah Bonda Siti Bainun Ahd Razali welfare home has submitted an application to regain custody of her five adopted children, who are now being cared for by the Social Welfare Office (JKM).
Siti Bainun, 29, along with four birth mothers of the children, filed a joint notification motion with the local court through the Aminahtul Mardiah chambers on August 2, naming the Kuala Lumpur JKM as a defendant.
All complainants were represented by the lawyer Nur Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor, while child protection officers Noor Afdzan Mohd Sahandrigani, Asiah Bachok and Mohd Imran Mohd Zanyuin acted on behalf of the respondent.
In the application, Siti Bainun and the birth mothers of the children requested that the provisional custody of the children received by JKM on July 16 be withdrawn immediately in accordance with Section 30 (13) (c) of the 2001 Children Act.
The application also stated that it was an application from the biological families of the five children to grant custody to the applicant (Siti Bainun).
The five children, including two with Down syndrome, between the ages of two and 16, were previously cared for by Siti Bainun.
Meanwhile, when Nur Aminahtul Mardiah met by reporters today, said the hearing of the motion should have taken place today as it was filed with immediate confirmation.

Only Aminahtul Mardiah said they had also made a preliminary application for access to the children of Siti Bainun, as she had not had the opportunity to do so since the children were kidnapped by the JKM.
“Today the court ordered that Siti Bainun can video-call access to her five adoptive children and the two Down syndrome children and the two school children to continue teaching and learning at home,” she said.
It was reported that a woman, who is also the founder of the Rumah Bonda welfare home, was arrested after being called by Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters to record her testimony about the abuse of a girl with Down syndrome.
The police had also filed an investigation into the woman. However, the application was denied by the local court because it was filed more than 24 hours after the woman was arrested. – Bernama
