Sheriff’s Workplace creates ‘Protected Trade Zone’ to be used in custody exchanges, web gross sales | Information

To promote a safer environment for our citizens to conduct personal Internet transactions, the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the Goochland Safe Exchange Zone. This area consists of two parking spaces, which are located in the parking lot of the Sheriff’s Office. Here the public can trade in legal objects, conduct internet sales or exchange custody in a neutral place, which is recorded around the clock by video surveillance cameras. The parking spaces are located directly in front of the Sheriff’s Office at 2938 River Rd W, Goochland VA 23063.

Here are some tips to reduce your risk of falling victim to online sales in in-person transactions:

Let a friend accompany you.

Let a friend or family member know of your plans.

Do not meet in a remote area.

Avoid and don’t go to your home transactions.

Be careful when buying / selling high quality items.

Perform the transaction in daylight.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Carry your cell phone with you.
