District meeting is March 16

AUBURN – DeKalb County’s Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, March 16 at 6:00 pm.

The meeting will be held in the White Room in the basement of the DeKalb County Office Building, 215 E. 9th St., Auburn.

Due to the pandemic status, the annual meeting 2021 will be held virtually. It will consist of the required business meeting that includes a year-end closing and an update of the district’s activities in 2020. There will be an election for an open supervisor position. Only one name will appear on the ballot at this point.

The DeKalb SWCD 2020 annual report is available from the district office at 942 W. 15th St., Auburn. Individuals can request a copy by mail by calling the office at 925-5620. 3.

The board of directors and employees of DeKalb SWCD would like to apologize for the inconvenience and frustration of the changes affecting the annual meeting.

“However, as everyone knows, this has been a very busy time and we prefer to proceed with caution. We are trying to do our part in the hope that 2021 can return to some kind of normalcy, ”the district said in a press release.

GARRETT – CR 19 between Garrett and Auburn will close starting Wednesday March 3rd and will take approximately three weeks for utility work.

CR 19 is closed between Auburn Drive (CR 48) and SR 8. Auburn Electric will rebuild and relocate a substantial polling line from the west side to the east side of the road.

The daily closings are effective Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Land surveyors, drainage offices move

AUBURN – The DeKalb County Surveyor’s Offices and DeKalb County Drainage Board have moved to 220 E. 7th St., Suite 130, Auburn.

The move took effect on March 1st. The office building also includes the DeKalb County Veterans Service Department.

The surveying and drainage offices were previously on the first floor of the courthouse. These are trading venues with the department for child benefit according to Title IV, which will take the place in the courthouse after renovation.
