St. Louis man accused of killing 2-month-old child in custody

ST. LOUIS – A man accused of killing a two month old baby is currently in custody.

The St. Louis City Police Department’s child abuse division was called to the 3900 Block on North 21st Street at around 9 p.m. Thursday night

Police confirmed that the boy had extensive visible injuries.

A St. Louis man is in custody after the baby dies in a hospital. According to the baby’s neighbors, the child lived with his father.

The authorities are currently unable to comment on the cause of death as this has yet to be determined through the medical examiner’s autopsy.

The police would not confirm the suspect’s relationship with the baby.

The investigation is still ongoing.

The residents are heartbroken.

“The man worked, I don’t think he molested this baby,” said resident Timmy Welch. “When they brought the baby out of here, the baby’s eyes were still open. I found out later that the baby died and broke my heart. “

A few hours earlier, Thursday, a two-year-old girl was shot in the thigh in an unrelated case in South St. Louis. It happened around 6 p.m. on Eichelberger Strasse.

The child was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. So far there has been no word on how the shooting took place and no charges have been filed.
