Suspect in custody after alleged years-long sexual assault of kid in Fort Bend County

A man is in the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Service after police alleged he sexually assaulted a child under 11 for three years.

Ivan Lopez-Lopez, 45, of Beasley, was arrested on March 36 by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and charged with grievously assaulting a child.

According to Lopez-Lopez’s arrest warrant, the investigation began after the victim confided to a friend that Lopez-Lopez had assaulted her regularly and had done so for more than three years. The victim’s friend then told the victim’s mother about the abuse.

When the mother asked the victim about the abuse, the child confirmed that the suspect had attacked her multiple times. The warrant states that the victim did not tell anyone about the attacks because she was “ashamed” and did not want the suspect to get into trouble.

Lopez-Lopez reportedly told the child not to tell anyone about the abuse, which often occurred after the child fell asleep at night, the warrant said.

On March 25, the victim was taken to the Fort Bend Children’s Advocacy Center for a forensic interview. Lopez-Lopez was arrested the following day.

Lopez-Lopez is currently being held in Fort Bend County Jail under the care of ICE. His bail is $ 180,000 in total but has not been posted.
