Suspect In Custody After Baby Discovered Lifeless In Avenue In Dallas Neighborhood – CBS Dallas / Fort Value

UPDATE: 18-year-old arrested in connection with the murder of a child found on Dallas Street

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – An arrest was made in the murder of a boy found on a street in a Dallas neighborhood on Saturday, police said.

The child was found on the 7500 block of Saddleridge Drive after the police received an 911 call. Police said the 911 did not come from the boy’s house.

The cause of death is not yet known, but police believe the suspect used a “sharp weapon”.

At around 10 p.m. on Saturday, the police announced that a grown man was in custody. However, further information was not immediately released as he was sent to Dallas County Jail.

“The hard work of the men and women of the Dallas Police Department brought this criminal to justice and would not have been possible without the Dallas FBI Evidence Response Team and public support,” the department said in a statement.

Investigators believe the boy, whom police said was 4 years old, lived in the neighborhood.

The woman who called 911 spoke to CBS 11 News about what she saw.

“I see something lying on the street and my first thought was that it was a dog. The closer I get to that, the more I can say it’s a human cause because I see a hand and legs. Very traumatic. I have three children. It’s really traumatic to see a child covered in blood in the middle of the street, ”she said.

On Saturday night, CBS 11 News found the FBI’s Evidence Response Team searching for and removing items from a house on the 7500 block of Florina Parkway. It’s in the same neighborhood that the boy was found dead. The Dallas Police Department has confirmed that this location is also part of their investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Department’s Child Abuse Division at 214.275.1300.
